The University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa (PBUH) in Karbala welcomed Professor Dr. Nashaat Saliwa, President of Al-Hamdaniya University in Mosul. He was received by Professor Dr. Waqid Al-Moussawi, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Professor Dr. Nawfal Al-Araji, Vice President for Administrative Affairs.
The visit aimed to renew and activate the academic cooperation agreement signed between the two universities, with a focus on strengthening partnerships and fostering faculty exchange. Professor Dr. Ibrahim Saeed Al-Hayawi, President of the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa (PBUH), extended his greetings to the university’s students and staff on the occasion of the new academic year, affirming the shared responsibility of carrying the trust of knowledge and building the future.
In his message, Dr. Al-Hayawi emphasised that the start of every academic year marks a moment filled with hope and ambition, from which the university advances toward new horizons of giving and achievement. Good News for Vocational Graduates

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research has approved the admission of graduates from all vocational study branches into the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa (PBUH) (Department of Qur’anic Sciences and Department of Jurisprudence and Its Foundations). Admission will be based on the grade averages to be announced soon in the Central Admission Guide for students.

First in Iraq: Warith Al-Anbiyaa Inaugurates Pioneering Departments

The University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa (PBUH) has announced the establishment of five new academic departments, the first of their kind in Iraq, following official approval from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The university leadership emphasised that this step reflects the guidance of His Eminence Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalai, representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, on the importance of keeping pace with scientific progress and advancing academic standards in line with the needs of both local and global labour markets.

The University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa (PBUH) announced the introduction of evening study programmes in the Department of Oil and Gas Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, opening new opportunities for a wider segment of students interested in pursuing this vital specialisation.

Minister of Higher Education Issues Orders to Transform Nine Technical Institutes into Polytechnic Colleges

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Naim Al-Aboudi, has issued ministerial orders to convert nine technical institutes within the four technical universities into polytechnic colleges—a strategic step considered the first of its kind in the path of university development in Iraq.
Speaking at a press conference attended by the Deputy Minister for Scientific Research Affairs and the presidents of technical universities, the minister emphasised that the establishment of specialised polytechnic colleges and the conversion of a number of technical institutes into them represent a strategic decision aimed at:

▪️ Linking technical universities with industry and production centers, and strengthening the technical capabilities needed to implement national industrial development plans.
▪️ Achieving integration between academic and applied education.

Minister of Higher Education Approves 2025–2026 Academic Calendar

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Naim Al-Aboudi, has approved the academic calendar for the 2025–2026 academic year for undergraduate studies (beyond first-year levels) in public and private universities.
According to the approved calendar, the new academic year will commence on Sunday, September 21, 2025, marking the start of the first semester, which will extend for fifteen weeks. The second semester is scheduled to begin on Sunday, February 1, 2026.

The team registered and continuously updated the data of missing visitors to ensure their swift identification and reunion with their families.

Mohammed Ali Al-Mousawi, a sixth-year medical student at the College of Medicine, University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa (PBIH), delivered a specialised training workshop on Basic Life Support (BLS) for students from various medical colleges. The workshop was organised at the invitation of the Ministry of Youth and Sports / Department of Scientific Care and attended by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports.
The workshop trained participants in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and emergency response procedures, receiving enthusiastic engagement from attendees who praised the quality of preparation and delivery. Dr Naeem Al-Aboudi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, honoured the top-performing students at Iraqi universities with the Minister’s Excellence Award for Outstanding Achievement. The ceremony was attended by senior staff, presidents of public and private universities, vice-presidents, deans, department heads, and the families of the awardees.
In his speech during the ceremony, the minister emphasised the ministry’s commitment to providing a stimulating environment for distinguished students and offering comprehensive support. This includes opportunities for pursuing postgraduate studies, participating in innovation projects, benefiting from research and technology incubators within Iraqi universities, and engaging in regional and international academic conferences and forums.
He highlighted that, through its strategic vision, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has achieved a series of pioneering scientific accomplishments over the past three years, strengthening the position of Iraqi universities. College of Medicine Participates in 3rd International Conference on Mass Gathering Medicine 

As part of its ongoing efforts to advance the medical field and enhance public health, the College of Medicine at the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa (PBUH) participated in the 3rd International Scientific Conference on Mass Gathering Medicine, held under the title:
“Mass Gathering Medicine – The Arbaeen Pilgrimage as a Model”, organised by the Deputy Secretariat for Medical Affairs, Combatants, and Sacrifices, in collaboration with Al-Sibtayn and the Ministries of Higher Education and Health.
The college’s active academic contribution was represented by Prof. Dr. Ali Abdul Saadoun Al-Ghazi, Dean of the College of Medicine, who participated in the opening research session, presenting a set of specialised scientific discussions on health crowd management and the medical challenges encountered during the millions-strong Arbaeen Pilgrimage, which stands as a unique model in community and emergency medicine.
